QuestionMy question I thought perhaps you could help me with is as follows:
I have a red-eared slider. Since he was tiny. He's about 6 years old now. Now, my question is should I be worried about it since I haven't seen him eat anything at all for the past 3 weeks? I don't know whether to be concerned or thinking that he is hibernating. What do you think?
AnswerThey hibernate when the water temps fall to around 40, and they will usually hide. However, if the water temps are too far below 75F, they stop eating, but keep burning calories- which is a bad situation.
You might want to try warming the water to about 75-80F and see if that helps.
