we just got a 55gl tank and are getting 2 sliders.. we are woundering what kind of fish & frogs could go in the tank as well?

Do you mean for turtle food? They will gladly eat small fish, but they don't like frogs so much. Of course, they will still try to bite and harrass the frogs unless the tank is big enough for the frogs to have their own space (and 55 may seem big, but it is only big enough for about 4" total shell lentgth worth of turtles.)

If you do not want the fish eaten, stick to fish that are big (and they may still get their fins nibbled), fast, or armored. Armored catfish and Chinese Algae Eaters are the most common tank-mates.

I'd skip frogs- they just don't usually play well in a community tank.
