question about an aquatic turtle

My daughter has an aquatic turtle and it climbed out it's tank... she couldn't find it.. thought it was gone, then today almost a week later she found it... still alive, but seems to be in trouble.. what does she need to do , she put him back in some water, but can't get him to eat.

Stress takes a week or so to clear up. I am going to assume this is a young Red-ear Slider as that is the most common pet turtle.

What I would recommend is to make sure it has the right housing, cares, and diet based on a good site like http://www.redearslider.com or http://www.austinsturtlepage.com

Once the basics are solid, give it a few days to get used to things- but understand that not eating for a week with a turtle is like skipping a couple meals for a human- not a big deal.
