Question
hi yexalen.
i have a question about the species of my turtle. i bought it around a week ago and the pet store had informed me that it was a red-eared slider. i have done some research however, and i've seen pictures of red-eared sliders, and they dont look exactly like my turtle. my turtle doesnt have the two red marks on the sides of his face and his stomach has no black circle-designs on it. i am convinced he is a yellow-bellied slider, but i am still not 100% sure. is there maybe any way that he is a red-eared slider and will develop the red marks later on in life? i was just curious...

Answer
Hello Anita, the pet store has misinformed you. Red Ear Sliders are hatched with the red areas on their face. It is most likely a Yellow Belly Slider the care is identicle that of the Red Ear Slider and great information can be found here.
