QuestionOne of our sulcata's, about 16 inches, nestled under my truck had its shell
damaged as the truck was put into gear. He scampered away quickly, stayed
in shell for approx. 10 minutes then continued walking around and eating
constantly. The shell is separated in three locations and the bleeding was
minimal. shell separation was approx. 1/4 inch. the bleeding seems to be
coming from the shell itself, have applied antibiotics / sprays . He is now
confined to an 4 x 8 enclosure, could use any advice thanks Chris
AnswerIf the shell structure itself is still solid- that is, no parts move when it breathes, then everything is probably fine.
Monitor for infection (red coloration in the shell or tissues), and signs of shock (discoloration, not feeding, inactive).
Keeping it outside is good for it in most cases as long as things are fairly clean and the temps, humidity, and diet are good.
