peeling sulcata shell

Hello. It appears my 5 year old sulcata tortoise shell is peeling around the squares on the top of his shell. What is this? Also what can I do to help if this is not normal? THANKS

Hi Matt,

I'm so sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.  I deleted the email by accident and then forgot all about it.  Anyway, it would really help if you could post some pictures.  I think you can only post one through allexperts, but if you have a photobucket account you can upload a few and then post the links.  Also, if you can tell me how you keep your tortoise (enclosure type and size, type of heating/UVB bulb, substrate, temps, diet, etc.) I can help you better.  I'll get right back to you next time.
