QuestionI have had my Russian Tortoise for about 2 weeks now and he has seemed healthy, but I am slightly worried about his breathing. Most of the time is very quite and regular but sometimes he makes a quick and noticeable puff of air out. Is this normal or could it be a possible health issue?
AnswerTortoises smell by pumping their throats- it looks like an odd form of breathing, but is perfectly normal. They also often 'puff' to clear their airways- this MIGHT signal that your habitat is dusty or too dry.
