I just got a African sideneck turtle, I have her in a 50 gallon tank I bought a heat lamp, log, and a landing to bask in. But she wont go up there and when I put her on she goes right off. I was wondering tonight when I go to sleep if she wont go on the landing can she sleep under water.

Hi Christina,

Make sure there's a temperature difference between the water and basking area. If the water is too warm, they won't bother basking. If the basking area is 88, the water area should be around 75 to 78. Make sure the water isn't too deep. 10" should be enough. They can sleep in the water. Hope this helped!
