outdoor turtle

Question
I found a turtle shell in my pond there were 6 soft brown oval eggs in it. What happened to the turtle? Will the eggs survive if left under the shell in the pond? The shell was orange with black spots.

Could you send a picture. No if they were viable eggs they would not survive underwater.
Eggs must be buried under soil.

This sounds like a mother turtle who died while she was gravid before she could lay the eggs and
the rest of her is gone now leaving only the eggs that died with her.
