QuestionI have a 5 y.o. female African Spur. I wanted to know if they lay infertile eggs even if never bred before. My female digs huge holes in the backyard and I don't know if she is capable of laying eggs.
AnswerAfrican Spurs dig all over the place. Read any 'living with a Sulcata' story you can find and 'bombed out yards' are a common theme. This is just plain burrowing. As they get older, the burrows get deeper and bigger- many keepers talk about holes more than 15 feet deep.
They also can lay infertile eggs without mating, usually in their middle age- usually around 20 or so.
Good luck!
