Question
I have had my red eard slider for a few months and other then haveing scuts on his shell he seems to be very healthy.
I put a pleco in the tank about a month ago and they get along great. yesterday i decided to try and feel my pleco some of the rounds that sit on the bottom and my turtle ate them. when i woke up this morning he was pooping A LOT and floating in the water sidways. I had to go to work so i thought maybe he just gave himself an upset tummy and he would be ok. Well when i got off work he was pooping again ... i suspect that he was not going the whole time i was at work beacuse the water was still looking pretty clean. I know that one sign of kidney failur is swiming tilted but i dont know what the other sings are. also his poop has round yellowish chunks in it and aside from those chunks its kinda runny. I very scard that he has a bad illness please resond with anything you know that could be the problem
thank you

Answer
Erika,

Your turtle needs to be seen and treated by a veterinarian!  It could be a simple fix... please take him to the vet.  He's probably in pain.  Tell your vet everything you just told me.

An exotic animal vet is the best in this case.  Look for a vet who treats birds... even if you have to travel a little it will be worth getting the expertise.

If you absolutely can't find one then call dog and cat vets and find the most experienced one.
