Question
Hi Jamie,
My name is David and i live in Ireland i have two yellow bellied turtles and a map turtle both the yellow bellies  are 6.2 inches long. The male is constantly fluttering his nails in her face trying to mate with her but she doesn't seem at all interested and when she swims away from him he attacks her he either latches onto her leg or most often her neck and i have to try and get him off of her the tank is a medium size but they seem to get on just fine they don't dig or anything i have noticed that the female is spending allot of time on the dock i don't know whether she is pregnant or she is just trying to get away from the male and when she does go up onto the dock the male comes up and tries to push her down.I was just wondering if they are old enough to breed the male is about two and a half and the female is about two,and i was also wondering if i should separate the two because of the male constantly attacking the female Thank You

Answer
Hello I am sorry it took so long to respond, I was just notified that you have asked a question.
However, your male is trying to mate the female.
It would be my advise to seperate them as you will end out with a gravid (eggs) female and then other issues can arrise and If he is being that aggressive he can cause her harm.
Im sure that is the last thing you want.
Odds are if she is fighting him off sheis on the dock to assist with that as well as possibly just getting tired due to the new actions.
I would recommend seperation
