Question
Mark,
I am purchasing a pair of dwarf cherry redheads in two weeks. I have kept turtles for many years. My questions are
1.Are these guys difficult to keep?
2. My housing would be a 50 gallon breeder tank
with heat lamp & uvb bulb(on timers) substrate ?
Temp ? relative humidity? are they hard to breed
also diet concerns
Thanks
Todd
Answer1. Nope!
2. Breeding- sorta, only because you usually need more of a breeding herd than a breeding pair, but two is all you need- if they hit it off!
2. Housing- these guys like it warm and humid- tropical rain forest like. They do NOT like bright light.
3. Diet- these are usually pigs. A general vegetarian tortoise diet with occasional bits of protein will be fine. Suppliment it with moistened Monkey Chow and powedered reptile vitamin/mineral suppliment with calcium.
Redfoots are among my favorites. They are great animals and pretty easy... within limits.
