Question
My Sugar Glider Macy does not bark. but my friend that got one from a family
friend barks. she keeps the cage in her room. i have mine in our computer
room. is it because she does not sleep in my room? i just don't want her to be
in there because my room gets cold due to the windows being open. its weird
but i would like for her to bark. their bark is so cute.

thanks

Answer
Hi Jonathan,

I've answered a lot of questions about Sugar Gliders, but I've never had anyone concerned because their glider does NOT bark.  Usually they want to know how to get them to stop. In fact, I have never even heard of a glider that does not bark.

Barking is a form of communication.  It can mean many things to other gliders.  Does your glider live alone?  This is not a happy situation for gliders.  Do you think it is possible that she doesn't bark because there is no one around to hear her?  I'm just guessing, but it makes sense.  Try sleeping in the room where she stays.  See if she barks at night when you are in the room.

I did some research for you, but didn't locate any information relevant to your situation.  I'll keep looking.  Keep me informed.
