Russian Tortoise

I have an 8yr old russian tortoise, and he makes this grinding noise. he just recenlty started this but what is that annoying noise he is making with his mouth??

Ashley,   As long as you are sure its from his mouth. His eyes are clear, nose clean, and not a rasping from the lungs are happening. It sounds like he is grinding his beak. Maybe he is trying to tell you he is hungry or maybe he just likes it. I would take a look at his beak and make sure it is not overgrowing abit and bothering him. If so he needs to go to a vet or someone VERY good with tortoise. He may need his beak filed. I would not do this myself. Good Luck, Tina
