Questionhey im having problems breeding my leopard geckos.
im not sure if its normal... i dont think it is.. but when they lay eggs, i get them when theyre all plump but the bottom is a little flat. does that mean theyre garbage?
also, when i put them in the moist vermiculite, they got a little saggy (i just put a few drops of water in the vermiculite.. when u squeeze it NO drops of water come out). the temperature is at 85 - 90 degrees.
i have no idea what im doing wrong but all the eggs seem to have some problem. i know theyre fertilized because you can see the red inside the egg.
one more thing, sorry this is long, but when they were layed, they stuck together and when i picked it up you couldnt separate them without ruining them.
please help. this is getting really frustrating because everyones saying its really easy to breed leopard geckos... :(
AnswerHello Natalie,
The temperatures for incubating should only be around 84. The humidity should stay around 80% or so. Are you using an incubator then? Is there good ventilation to keep any condensation dripping onto the eggs? That can drown them if that happens.
The substrate can be a mixture of vermiculite, or perlite along with plain soil.
Is your female laying on a substrate or just on the bottom of her tank?
