Beardie with head tilt

Question
I've read about head tilt as possible ear infection, but what about a head tilt as a birth defect.  This beardie is one year old, kept in all the correct condidtions, but has head tilt since birth.  She seems healthy except for being small and, of course, the head tilt.  Walks okay, not in circles.  After a year, will this one live a fairly normal life?  Has been vet checked.  Thanks for input.

Answer
Hello Jo Ann,

Sorry about your little one.  These types of infections are somewhat common or have been increasing lately so we have seen.  An ear infection is a possibility if she ever got water into the area which affected the tympanic membrane or ear canal.  Do the ears look normal, or do you see any bulging or yellowish discoloration on the membrane?
However, you said she has had a head tilt since birth?
Have you ever gotten a bloodtest done on her?  It could possibly be meningitis from some odd infection that she contracted when she was young which crept into the brain & or spinal area.  What about getting an x-ray done to see if the bones in the cervical area formed incorrectly perhaps or if there is any type of cyst or growth pressing against the cervical area that you cannot see which would cause a tilt.
Can you think of any type of infection?
Can she hold her head up straight at all?
What is the humidity in her tank?
What type of UVB light are you using, a flourescent tube bulb or a compact/coil bulb?  How old is the UVB light?
What type of basking light are you using, a bright white light or a colored light?
What are the temps in the tank & what type of thermometer do you use to measure the temps with?  A stick on type, a digital probe or a temp gun?
Do you supplement calcium?
Was she literally born with a head tilt, or, did it slowly develop after she was born?
If she is eating normally & can go to the bathroom normally, I don't see why she can't live a happy life with you though.
What did the vet say?
