Question
We were gone for about a week and my grandma watched over/fed my geckos for me.  When we came back I noticed my female stays out of her hiding spot all the time, is extremely skinny, and is not responding to movement so not eating crickets.  Do you think she could be blind?  She does seem to still respond to sound.  My grandma also said they shed their skins while we were gone.  I have been trying to hand feed/water her and she drinks, but does not want to really eat.  My mom also recently changed the light source to a higher wattage, but it is a red light...does this matter?

Answer
There's a big possibility that she has retained shed on her eyes.  Since the eyes are so important and so sensitive an organ, I would have a reptile veterinarian with the proper equipment help her get rid of this shed.  In the meantime, see if she will lap at Gerber Firsts chicken baby food mixed with some of her calcium powder.  This may give her some nourishment till she gets definitive treatment.  The light will emit more heat which may have caused increased dryness in the habitat, so more misting is required.
