Question
Hi,
I live in Central Alabama and we are in the middle of a cold snap 38 degrees during the day and around 26 at night.  I have found two Anoles lizards that have made their way indoors.  I have placed them in my bay window with my house plants and they seem to be at home there for now.  I don't want to through them back outside if there is no way they can handle the temp outside.  I know its only a matter of time before they get hungry or my dog eats them!  Whats the best solution to this problem?  I enjoy watching them outside during the summer months and have grown to love having them around. My husband thinks I'm crazy, but I would just like to know the best thing for them.  I know indoors isn't the ideal place.

Answer
Hi,
They are little devils with finding their way to were its warm, that's for sure.
In all honesty, the best is to return them to the outdoors. I would find an area that has a good supply of coverage and rocks that they can climb into and or bury under.  They will use the heat of the rocks to keep warm during the night and during the day, if able, they will sun on top the trees and rocks. Areas near your house/basement walls hold heat very well.  Using leaves, etc will give them areas to burrow into.
They are fun to watch, thats for sure.  You are lucky to have that to see.  I am in PA so no fun anole activity to watch here.
