Question
Hi.  We have had a bearded dragon for over a year now.  We would like to know if a leopard gecko can be in the same enclosure or do we need  a new one? If we need a new one, do we also need to get the uc light and basking light for the gecko? THANKS!

Answer
Hello Lauren:

My specialty is venomous snakes, but I will do my best to answer your question.

If it were mine, I would with out a doubt have two separate enclosures with each having its own UVA %26 UVB set up, I rarely keep two separate species in the same habitat.  Both require individual heat settings, as well as basking temperatures, so that alone would tell me to use two habitats.  I also never place a large specimen in with a much smaller one unless it is intended as lunch because that is what usually happens even after a long period of time with both appearing to get along well.

If I were you, I would check with a few other knowledgeable people and then go with your gut if you get a few different answers.  No two so called professionals think and agree on all questions.  Do some research and the very best of luck to you and your friends.
