Bearded Dragon Unusual activity....

Question
Hello,

I have 2 Bearded Dragons (orange sandfire pagonas), AGE 8-9mo. old. I believe they are from the same litter, because I have had them since they were hatchlings, but cannot say if they have the same parents. Their sex is starting to show, and I believe what I have is two males. The one I know is healthy, I call him Agapae, is twice the size of the one I believe is sick, Lupo. I originally thought Lupo would end up being a female, due to its sence of adventure and blunt nose. I have had many males and they all seem to act the same way. Lupo never really has latched on to catching crickets, and he usually takes a couple strikes to get one. Here recently Lupo has gotten aggressive at wanting and eating crickets. Both of them have an extremely healthy appetite, around 20 crickets a day. They will also drink plenty of water, as long as I take them to a sink and pour it fresh. I say this because I have never seen them drink from their water dish, just lay in it, and they seem to love fresh running water.

So Lupo, now thinks everytime I come past the tank I have crickets, and he starts looking for them. Its an odd way he looks for them though. He keeps his head high in the air. So high that his front legs has a hard time keeping it up, so he falls over to one side or the other. And when he moves its almost like hes drunk. As weird as this sounds, it seems like he has turned into a drunken pig, who wants to do nothing but eat crickets. Lupo's bowl movements are regular, great appetite, Lighting, heat, 175 gal tank, 1/2 gal water bowl, cave, night heat bulbs, under tank heater, Cal. sand throughout. Agapae is acts like a beardie should. Lupo acts like a beardie with a broken neck and a balance problem. Also, he will acknowledge I am in the room by looking me in the eyes, but not immediately anymore. He seems distracted by nothing. Isn't it ok to have more then one male in a large enclosure? I have never dealt with dominance issues in beardies. In the time I'm home, they seem to get along just fine. What do you think?

Answer
Hello Travis,

First, is the 175 gallon divided?
I highly recommend dividing the tank, as it is large enough.
Housing 2 males is going to become unsafe.  Once they reach maturity, they will most likely fight & it could become severe, sometimes fighting to horrible injury or death.
Since Lupo is half the size, that is most likely dominance coming into play as Agapae is dominating him & not allowing him to get enough food.
He sounds like he is getting metabolic bone disease from lack of calcium & nutrition, possibly.  Do you use calcium supplementation?
Have either one of them ever been impacted by the calcium sand?

Are you using a UVB light currently?  If not, that could also be a problem since they can't absorb calcium without UVB exposure.
What are the temperatures in the tank, & what type of thermometer do you use to measure the temperatures with?  A digital probe, or a temp gun?

Do you have a picture of your tank setup?
Do you have pictures of them, as well?
