rabbit ear care

Question
we recently got a rabbit for pet therapy at the hospital where I work.We began to notice that her ears were full of some of the nastyest smelling junk we have ever seen.
we got a commerical ear mite and tick drops and have been cleaning and putting 5 drops times 2.
she looks much better but it seems she is still with the ear problems.
Are we on the right track or should we try something else?

Lops often have ear trouble, much like the cocker spaniel.  It does sound like ear mits, but the drops should clear things up in a week to 10 days.  Longer than that and you should see a vet.  I use the people medicine Campho-Penique for ear mites when I have problems.  Use the same way as the ear mite drops.

BTW - never heard of a New Zealand Mini Lop - there are New Zealands and there are Mini Lops, perhaps you have a mix breed.
