How to bcome close to your Rabbit

Question
I recently purchased a Rabbit for myself and my kids.  It is a Gray Male Miniture lop.  I'm not real sure of the age.  I really think Rabbits make wonderful pets. I Love them.  We have had hime for 3 Weeks now.  I let him rome free around our home when we are here.  He won't let us get close to him unless we are feeding him then we can pet him and rub him but, to just approch him he runs off.  I was wondering if you have any suggestions on how to get him to become less afraid of us. Also if you could answer one more question Should Rabbits have regular visits to the vet?

Thank you

Answer
Hi Kay,
What you need to do is decrease his space. Just allow him in one room, sit in this room with him, at first with a few treats in your hand. Sit still and let him roam around you, sniffing and making out your sent. Slowly without making sudden movements, gently pet him. Don't worry if at first he runs away. Do this as many times a day as you can and for as long as you can. Eventually he will get used to you and climb on your lap, but be patient as it may take several weeks.
Rabbits need yearly injections for VHD and Myxamotosis. When giving these injections rabbits will be checked over by the vet.
Hope this helps
