Rabbits not eating pellets 6 days after spaying

Question
We had our 15 month old Netherland dwarf bunnies spayed 6 days ago.  They are eating some timothy hay, and they will gladly take a raisin (one per day, but they won't eat their pellets.  We tried giving pain meds on the third day after surgery, but they do not want to take it.  What should we do now ?  When we call the vet we can only speak to the receptionist.  Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Answer
Dear George,

If the vet who spayed your rabbits won't even talk to you in person for something like this, then you *definitely* need to find a different vet with some ethics and professional manner.  How insulting!

Please check the listings here:

www.rabbit.org/vets

and get those bunnies to a good vet for evaluation.  They should be eating better by now, and if they are not, they may need some supportive care and additional pain medication.  The vet can show you how to give it so they can't "say no."

I hope this helps.
