Question
HELLO I HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME. I HAVE A EIGHT MONTH OLD DWARF LOP WHO THIS MORNING HAS GIVEN BIRTH. MY WORRY IS THAT SHE SEEMS VERY DISSTRESSED AND MAKING A STRANGE HONKING NOISE, IS THIS NORMAL? THE OTHER THING IS I THINK THE BIRTH HAPPENED AT ABOUT EIGHT O'CLOCK THIS MORNING AND SHE HASNT BEEN INTO THEM SINCE AND IT IS NOW FOUR O'CLOCK IN THE AFTERNOON AND I AM WORRIED THAT THEY HAVNT BEEN FED.ALSO I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT FIRST TIME MOTHER DOE'S KILL OR ABANDON THEIR FIRST LITTER,IS THIS TRUE OR JUST A MYTH. IT WOULD BE WONDERFUL TO HAVE MY MIND PUT TO REST.

THANK YOU
            RICHARD

Answer
hi richard follow my rules
ensure all babies covered up but do not try and see them ,let the doe lokk after them herselve.
dont expect to see the doe feeding, in 10 years i saw a doe only feed twice.
feed her as normal
after 24 hrs take the doe out the cage and give her a tit bit something she likes .
uncover the nest and check babies, any dead remove.
any still alive coverup and replace the doe.
leave her to get on with it
7-10 days babies eyes should be open.
one important thing -if any babies come out the nest , you will have to put them back in, THE DOE WILL NOT DO IT.
And yes its true some does will kill all the first litter but i had one that did this and when i remated her she kept the second litter and raised 7 kits.
any more info please call me.
