What breed?

Question
My 7 year old daughter is asking to have a rabbit as a pet. I have no experience with rabbits and would like some advice. We would like a breed that is fairly simple to take care of and is known to be gentle with kids as well as easy to litter train. Would you be able to tell me what types of breeds should we be looking to buy?

Answer
There is no one rabbit breed that is good with children.  However, we've found that larger rabbits, such as New Zealands, Californians, French Lops, and such are better for children because they tend to be calmer and also more difficult for children to pick up and thus be injured by when the rabbit struggles to get down.

You might want to read about rabbits here - http://www.rabbit.org/faq/index.html and also read the section under Environment about Children and Rabbits to make sure that a rabbit is the animal you all really want to get and not another animal that might be easier to take care of.
