Questionwe have a lionhead rabbitt about 1 year old his fur has got matted and clumpy. Is it ok to cut clumps off? Will it grow back ok? and is it best done with hair sheers? Thanks.
AnswerYou can cut the matts off, there's information about doing this with Angora rabbits (also works for any other fuzzy bunny) at http://exoticpets.about.com/cs/rabbits/a/rabbitsrooming.htm?terms=zoom+groom
The fur will grow back.
I've used both children's safety scissors and electric pet shaver, depending on how bad the matts are. Be sure that you put your fingers in between the blade and the rabbit so you don't cut their skin. Rabbit skin is very thin and very easy to cut.
