Question
My rabbit keeps freaking out. she'll just be sitting there and all of a
sudden she leeps into the air and bolts across the room she'll sit
there looking terified and then she does it again. She doesn't look
like she's having fun and playing. why does she suddenly get so
scared? no loud noises, no quick movement. what could it be?
could it be fleas bitting her? I haven't found anything on her.  Do
know what this could be?

Answer
Dear Lani,

If she's actually leaping into the air and then racing around like crazy, then stopping and staring at you, it's more likely that you've witnessed a really good "binky" than a panic attack.  Rabbits do this crazy dance when they're full of high spirits:  they laugh with their whole bodies!

Try this:  Next time you witness this acrobatic fling, wait for her to stop, and then go to her and try to pet her.  If she flees in a panic, then she might truly be frightened of something that you are unable to hear or smell (a passing dog or other predator, even through a closed window, can frighten a smart bunny!).  If she just dances a little bit away from you, or if she crouches to be petted, then it means that she's just having fun, and you can enjoy her antics without worry.

I hope this helps.  Please write back if you have any other questions.
