male and female lionheads

Question
i have recently brought male and female lionheads, who are brother and sister. They are approx 11 weeks old. We have been recommended to have the male neutered at 5 months, but he has been showing a lot of mating behaviour and we are concered about whether he needs to be neutered sooner? at what age do they mature and when does it become possible for the female to become pregnant?

Answer
As soon as you can see the testicles on the male, you can get him neutered.  Some male rabbits will start mounting behavior shortly before that happens.

The females mature a little later than the males, but you will definitely want him neutered as soon as possible, then keep them separated for a few days so he can heal up.

Smallers rabbits tend to mature at 4-6 months, so he probably isn't quite there yet.  Females can get pregnant at about 6 months.
