First Rabbit

My soon to be eight year old daughter desperately wants a rabbit for her birthday.  Any advice as to which kind is the most gentle?  Also, a work acquaintance has a rabbit that stays outside in a very large cage and occasionally is allowed inside. Is this a problem or should rabbits be kept inside all the time.  Lastly, my daughter is allergic to dogs and cats (she takes Clartin when around them).  Are there any rabbits that are better for allergy prone individuals?  She has an appt. at the allergist tomorrow.  Thank you!

hi jeri-the best type for your daughter is a dwarf type rabbit. netherland dwarf or dwarf lop are examples.
staying outside in a big cage is no problem , mine dont come in the house at all always in cages outside.
when she goes fo her appointment tell the doc about her desire to have a rabbit and he will advise you.
