Question
I have a rabbit that had 2 healthy babies at the end of December. I have given one baby away to a good home and kept the other. Now, here is my big problem. I thought the baby I kept was a girl. So they have been together this whole time. Just recently I saw the baby rabbit trying to mate with it's mom. I grabbed the rabbit and saw that I was so very wrong. It is a boy. I immediatly seperated the two and made an appointment for having the rabbits fixed. I had no idea first of all it was a boy. Second of all I was shocked to see the rabbit going after its mom. Now i'm just sick because the mother rabbit is making a nest and I'm almost 100% sure she is pregnant. What should I do? Will the rabbit be healthy? Do you get rabbit abortions? I cant eat, I cant sleep, I feel like I betrayed my rabbit. Please help!!

Answer
When you flip over the baby, does he have visible testicles?  If not, then she may not be pregnant.

But yes, many vets will spay a pregnant rabbit.  It's trickier than spaying a non-pregnant one, so you will want to find a rabbit-knowledgeable vet who has done it before.

After having him neutered, keep him away from his mother for 2-4 weeks, he could still impregnate her until the hormones have all worked out of his system.

If she is making a nest, you may have babies in the next day or so.  Hopefully it's a false pregnancy.

It's easy to make mistakes with baby bunnies, they are very hard to sex when they are younger!
