Feeding of Babie Bunnies

Question
Recently a freind and i have found a nest of wild babie bunnies the mather had abadoned them for at least 3 days.  We  know the mother was not going to come back because a neighborhood dog had attacked the nest, Leaving the bunnies to smell of dog the mother will not care for them any more, so we have been taking on the responsibility of caring for them.

OUr question for you is what should we feed them?
For now we have just been feeding them warmed up half and half.

Thank you again for you time and help

Answer
Dear Paris,

Even if a dog was near the nest, the mother probably would have continued to care for her babies.  The best way to tell is to re-make the nest, replace the babies, and then put a few long strands of grass over the nest. If the strands are disturbed the next day, then the mama is returning to feed her young.

Now that you have taken them in, I hope the previous article I sent you will be helpful:

DO NOT feed them Half and Half!  That is FAR too fatty, and lacks any sort of protein or other important nutrients.

We use ultrapasteurized Goat Milk (Meyenberg brand, available at most health food stores and some major supermarkets, such as Publix) with a *tiny* bit of heavy whipping cream added (about 0.5cc cream for every 60 cc's of milk), and to that 60cc's of milk also add the contents of 5 capsules of freeze-dried colostrum, also available at most health food stores.  The colostrum will help the babies fight off bacteria, which they cannot do well on their own.

Good luck, and if you find any other nests of wild babies, I hope the article will help.  The best thing is to leave them alone unless you are *absolutely* sure they have been abandoned.
