QuestionOur pet rabbit is about 1 1/2 years old and is a flop-eared dwarf. He is acting normal but there is a rather large spot extending from just above his tail up his spine where it seems as if the outer fur has fallen out; the skin is quite flaky. He cannot reach it but loves us to rub it. What is the cause and what should we do? Many thanks, Shawn
AnswerThere could be a number of things going on. It could be part of a normal shed, or mites, or ringworm. You could check out http://homepage.mac.com/mattocks/morfz/rabrefs.html#skin and see if it possibly matches anything they refer to before you decide if it needs treatment or not.
