QuestionHi Dana,
My 4 month old Netherland Dwarf bunny likes to chew on the carpet. I'm concerned because I've actually caught her eating some of the fibres she's pulled up. Right now, I've restricted the area in which she's allowed to roam and also covered up the carpet there. I've thought of maybe using a water squirt gun to discourage her but she's very little and I don't want to soak her. Is this behaviour likely to diminish after she's spayed (probably late next month)? Thanks in advance!
AnswerDear Lori,
Yes, the behavior will likely diminish once she's spayed. But in the meantime you can help protect your carpet by buying a few 100% cotton bath mats (Marshall's has them by the truckload, and not very expensive) and place them over the areas where she is digging. These will distract her, and she can shred them all she likes without harm, since cotton is pretty digestible.
Hope this helps!
Dana
