Question
I've had my rabbit for 6 years. she has developed cataracts in her right eye about a year ago. (im not too worried abt this.)

Now, i notice that she has no control of her right ear. In other words, it flops, but the left one is normal. (she's a local rabbit, not any of those fancy kinds.)

But what i'm really worried about is that she's not eating. She doesn't eat her pellets or hay like she used to. So i tried giving her a small piece of carrot and she gobbled it up.

Another concern is that she can't walk. she can't move her hind legs at all and when i saw her in her cage can i called her name, to which she usually responds, she tried to inch her way to me but her body just flopped like a rag doll. And she seems to give up trying to come to me.

I am in desperate need of help right now. I love my rabbit very much and i'm not taking to it too well because my hamster died of old age just 2 days ago.

Thanks to those who reply. I'm grateful...
:'(

Answer
Her ear flopping over is nothing to be worried about so long as the insides of her ears look normal. Some rabbits, especially those who have lop somewhere in the background, often loose control over one or both ears. It can be caused by age or mild injury to the ear base.

The change in eating and the inability to walk is much more worrisome. If at all possible, I highly suggest getting her to a vet. It sounds like she may have partial paralysis. If it is E. cunniculi (a sort of parasite) causing it, it could get much worse if she is not propely cared for.
