hurt wild baby bunny

Question
Our cat attacked a wild baby bunny, but we managed to rescue it
and have been able to keep it alive for the past 24 hours. There
must have been a puncture wound; there was a tiny amount of
blood on the box lid we used to help "roll" him into a shoe box.
We now have him in a screened in cage, laying on a bed of paper
towels, with water, grass and lettuce. He's breathing, but not
moving much. He did poop.  I have no idea how to care for this
little guy any more--help and thanks.

Answer
Dear Mary,

I hope the baby is still alive, but if he was attacked by a cat then his chances are very slim.  Any baby rabbit that has been bitten or scratched by a cat must be put on antibiotics (preferably Baytril or ciprofloxacin) within a few hours, or systemic Pasteurella (a bacterium found in great quantities on the claws and teeth of most cats) can cause a fatal systemic infection.  If he's still alive, please find a good rabbit vet here:

who can quickly prescribe antibiotics.

As far as feeding and care, I hope the following will help:

Good luck, and thank you for your kindness in trying to rescue the wild baby.
