Question
Hi i have recently emailed you, about my rabbit which i thought was pregnant.. well today i noticed that when she was out of her cage, she urinated on the mat. usually the urine is of yellow to clear, but this time it was of orange to red colour... Does this mean that she is on heat or is something wrong... i am quite worried about her, also lately she has not been getting on very well with my other rabbits, i mean they are fighting ( rowling around, jumping, scratching, loosing fur), but i have seperated them in different cages. i am just not sure what could be wrong with her. please write back as soon as possible.

Answer
Rabbits do not have heats like dogs and cats do. Orange urine is a completely normal things that is caused by undigested proteins in the urine. As long as there is not actual blood in the urine (which will be a deep red or even almost black colour), she is fine.

Her sudden behaviour change may well be from her either being pregnant or thinking she is pregnant. Either one can make a rabbit suddenly change her personality toward both other rabbits and people.
