Splay legs?

Question
My 18 day old mini rex kits are coming out of the nest box, and one of the little kits rear legs look like frog legs.  His pelvic area is basically on the ground, with his legs lying flat to the side on the floor. He tries to scratch his head, but never makes contact with his body. The legs do move, they just are not underneath his body when he is walking. If it is splay leg, is there a treatment?

Answer
Dear Jennifer,

Yes, you can correct this baby's problem, but you'd best do it soon, while the joints are still pliable.  I have created a web site with instructions and diagrams for bracing a wee one with splay leg, and according to the folks who have tried it (I've had the opportunity only once, years ago, since we do not breed rabbits nor approve of breeding rabbits for any reason, given the huge overpopulation and "dump" problem faced by rescuers every day...), it works.

Please go to:

for the article.  I hope it helps.
