Snow Shoe Rabbits / Natural Home Habitat

Question
Dear Samantha:
You probably can't answer this, but any guidance or referal to further information would be greatly appreciated. I have a home and property on the southern shore of Lake Superior in the U.P. of Michigan with an abundance of wild life. I'm a nature / animal lover and enjoy viewing everything from Black Bear, Deer, Bob Cats, etc. However, even though I know there are Snow Shoe Rabbits in the U.P. of Michigan, I have never seen one on my property, which is dense evergreens and cedar swamp, just the right habitat for Snow Shoe Rabbits. As a matter of fact, I've never even seen any tracks. My question is "Why Not"? And, what can I do to get them flurishing in my area? I've been told how to stack brush / logs, etc., to make an attractive home for them, and have done so, but to no avail. I've looked all over the "net" for information on attracting Snow Shoe Rabbits, or how to obtain them for wild breeding, but can not find anything. I'd love to be able to see wild Snow Shoe Rabbits, even though I realize there are a lot of their natural enemies around, yet I know such preditors are every where around, and yet "there are" Snow Shoe Rabbits in other areas nearby. Any thoughts?  "Appreciate any input"...Thank you...Darryl

Answer
Putting out feed for them may help, and to also atract other wildlife. I know in ohio they are an endagered species, so it may be that there are none in you area. Keep trying there may be some appear eventually. sorry i couldn't help more.

Sorry it took so long for me to get back with you. I had a death in the family.
