My girlfriends rabbit is ill.

Question
Hi, sorry for the rush on asking, but I think this is a matter that should be taken into action quickly.  I recently bought my girlfriend a rabbit, wich seems to be a dwarf, it has all white fur with red eyes.

She told me she's been taking exceptional care of it for the last week, she feeds it carrots and lettuce.  I told her to buy some rabbit food because it might start dumping "mushily".  Today, it started sort of "convulsating" and it's ears were pale.  It didnt't pay attention to sounds, and didn't move when she touched it. I told her to gently rub the belly and rear legs to see if it reacted, she said it didn't.  It is alive righ now, but it's sort of "spaced out" and won't move, she said it seems like it wants to eat.

What can we do to help the poor bunny.

Answer
Dear Joel,

When a bunny is this sick, the best thing you can do is get him to a good rabbit vet ASAP!  Please find one here:

www.rabbit.org/vets

and get him there as fast as you can. There are so many possibilities as to what might be wrong that I couldn't even begin to list them here.  Please read:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/sickbun.html

and

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/poop.html

and

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/diet.html

for starters.  But get that bunny to the vet NOW if you want him to survive.  I hope he'll be okay!
