Rabbit Limping

Question
My rabbit took a big fall from her cage yesterday and landed with a big thump. Since then, I noticed her limping considerably (she just keeps her one foot/leg close to her body and doesnt extend it). Also, her genitals seem to be protuding out of her body and there is some redness around the area. She has been emitting very soft stools that have smeared on her anal area and her personality has been very irritable (very unlike her). She is still mobile and is eating. Is it a broken bone, or something else?

Answer
Dear Parin,

Given your bunny's symptoms, I'm surprised you have not already taken her to a good rabbit vet, whom you can find here:

www.rabbit.org/vets

I cannot begin to guess what injuries she might have suffered without seeing her.  That is the job of a good veterinrian, and you must make an appointment NOW, preferably telling the receptionist that it could be an emergency (describe what happened, and they will decide).

She may have a broken or seriously injured leg, pelvis or pectoral girdle, and she may even have internal injuries that need to be addressed.  Her aggression could well be due to pain. Please waste no time in getting her to a good vet.  The internet is not the place to seek this type of medical advice!

Good luck,

Dana
