un-altered male rabbit

Question
I have a 5 1/2 month old male mini rex rabbit who is gentle and not aggressive. I have read that most male rabbits reach maturity at about 4 months and that it is recommended to neuter. I would like to know, if the rabbit is gentle now at 5 1/2 months un-altered, will it become aggressive later? Thank you for your advice, it will be greatly appreciated.

Answer
He may or may not. Whether he will depends on his individual personality and hormonal changes. Some males are late to develop. However, it is a good idea to get him neutered even if he is not aggressive. It eliminates all chance of testicular cancer, which can be deadly. Also, sometimes an intact male will start spraying for no apparent reason (even a rabbit that is a few years old will sometimes suddenly take up spraying when he never did it before), and neutering will help prevent that from happening. Plus, if you ever decide to get him a companion, it will make him much more likely to accept living with another rabbit.
