Cage size & feeding mini rex

Question
Hello again, I have my doe in a 28x14x14 inch cage, she gets out for about a half hour each morning for a romp in the bathroom, seeing as she will be rasing babies in teh future I thought a 28x28x14 inch cage would be better, is this large enough? can the male then stay in her first cage? how much out of cage time should they have daily anyways? Now as for feeding I feed my doe martin rabbit pellets, she gets about a cup and a half every morning along with a handful of timothy hay, when I haev carrots she gets one a day, about twice a week she gets a inch of malt flavered cat hair-ball remidee, is this a good diet for both perants? also for the babies I keep i've got this big 42X28X28 inch cage with a 14x28 inch jump up platform inside how many minis could I house in this?

Answer
That is an awfully small cage, if that is all the time she is getting out.  If you could get something more along the lines of 30 x 24, or even 36 x 24, that'd be great.  If the male is the same size as she is, then he needs a comparably sized cage.

Time out can vary, but if they can get out while you are home, that'd be great, since that would hopefully be several hours in the evening.

Check out the diet info at http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/diet.html  That may or may not be too much pellets depending on her age, and certainly a whole carrot is too much sugar for a rabbit.  The hairball remedy isn't a problem,as long as they don't mind taking it.

You could probably get 4 minirexes comfortably into that big cage, if they will all coexist.  If they are younger, of course, you can put more in.
