Question
For my two 3-month Holland lop rabbits, i feed them unlimited pellets,
unlimited timothy hay, one slice of apple a day (seeds and stem
removed), a carrot-shaped mineral chew, a carrot-flavored wooden chew
toy, a salt/mineral block, and of course a bottle of clean water.  They live
in a wire bottom cage, with corn cob litter in their litter box and
newspaper under the wire where they cant get it.  I take them out for a
daily half-hour run on the grass to exercize and nibble (we dont use
pesticides or fertilizers).  They seem healthy, normal hard round poop,
eating well and hopping around, but one of them sneezes a lot (no gunk
from her nose) and makes a quacking sound that i think is a cough.  I
could get them free alfalfa from my horses, but i have been buying
timothy hay cuz i heard its better...  so is there anything i could add or
take away that could help them?  I mean anything at all, like more
veggies or mineral stuff, cuz i want them to be the happiest, hoppiest
rabbits ever! Thanks!!!

Answer
I wouldn't change anything about their diet. Too many veggies can lead to health problems. You could try instead of apples a baby carrot, or a chunk of raw sweet potato. My rabbits enjoy both, and it will also give them a variety. Timothy hay is better than alph alpha because A.A is really high in fiber. Your sneezing bunnie probably just has a cold. If you do start noticing discharge then you may need to treat them both with an antibiotic to be safe. I am sure they are happy hoppers and the happiest they can be.
