Question
i was wondering what to do if my rabbit (minilop) has just had her first litter and she has eaten two of her babies and wont nurse to the final baby. she only gave birth to three babies but i saw something moving in her belly, im not sure what it is but if there are more babies do you think she will eat them?

Answer
Hi Gloria,
Sometimes with new mommies they aren't so motherly as we would want them to be.  Eating the babies is something that happens quite regularily.  Usually if she has eaten the first babies born,it doesn't look too good for the rest.   Don't be too sad if the baby doesn't make it, this is normal for a first time mom...especially under the age of 1 year.
Hopefully the last baby waiting will be treated well, and you will discover the great joy in having raised a baby from birth, and if not, then maybe next time.

  Good luck Gloria,Elizabeth
