Question
When I took my rabbit out of her cage today (she is a Dutch and is around 5 years old I dont know if that helps)I noticed she had cut under her arm with a scab on it it was bleeding very little and it was not fully covered with the scab and the cut was on the large side. The area around it was red and did not have much hair. She didnt seem to be very bothered buy it and walked fine and let me look at it without caring but I am still very concerned I am not sure what I should do to care for the cut and I dont know how she could have cut herself I just would like to know if it is serious enough to go to the vet becuase I am planning on going tommorow

Answer
Dear Steph,

For now, make sure the wound is very clean by gently washing it with a dilute solution of Betadine (povidone iodine):  about 1 tablespoon of iodine in about 1/2 cup of lukewarm, clean water.  Use clean cottonballs or gauze, and  make sure all fur and dirt are out of the wound.

If she's not bothered by it, it doesn't sound like an emergency, but you are wise to get her to the vet ASAP for full diagnosis and treatment.  You can find a good rabbit vet here:

Good luck!
