Question
Hi My rabbit is 10 years old about 5 months ago I took him in to the vet for a mass growing on the in side of his left rear leg. The vet did a biopsy and found he has cancer. The vet said he could remove it but it will grow back.
Well it has and My Jaque is not eating much or drinking. I have gotten him to drink a little each day for the last four days. He seems to be breathing a little heavy. Is he telling me he is dying? I don't want him to suffer from pain but I was told when rabbits feel pain they grind their teeth? Is it time to put Jaque down?

Answer
It may be time to let him go. If he is not drinking and eating, then he will just starve and dehydrate. RAbbits grind their teeth for many reasons, so you cannot be sure that it is pain. If he is not his normal self, and loss of appitite, pain is likly the cause. If the vet told you the mass would keep coming back, and it did like you said, then it is probably for the best of him to put him down. Rabbits generally don't live over 10 years. I am surprized it has been this long, but at least he lived a long healthy life.
