Can my New Zealand White live outside?

22 10:37:48

Question
I have a New Zealand white bunny who is about 3-4 years old (I'm not sure EXACTLY how old because I adopted her). I live in Vermont, so it gets very cold in the winter. She lives in a hutch in the garage and the garage is not insulated. Is it okay for her to live there during the winter?

Answer
Dear Whitney,

Not only is it too cold in the garage for her, but it is also too lonely and miserable to live in a garage.

Rabbits are social, intelligent, and thrive on companionship.  They are easily litterbox trained, once spayed/neutered, and the don't belong in a lonely cage outside or in a garage where they don't get enough interaction and stimulation.

to find out about litterbox training, and getting your bunny inside where she belongs.  In no time, she'll be hopping up on the couch to watch TV with you, and even snuggling with you in bed.  You'll wonder why you waited so long!  :)

Hope this helps.
