Question
My family raises rabits for a pet store and we have preveisly had a rabit with one eye closed latter than the other when both eyes should had be open like the others in the liter,  we waited to see if it opned its eyes and it soon did.  Then our rabit got out and had bunnies in a grass mound and when we got bunnies out a couple had eye problems but the one i am most conserned about has still not open its eyes after about 4-6 weeks after being born and its starting to creat puss around the closed eyes. What should we do?  What is it?

Answer
Dear Austin,

The baby whose eyes are not open is not likely to ever have sight.  Eyes must open within 10-12 days, or the baby will be blind forever.  The pus is not a good sign, as you probably know.  The eyes are probably infected and beyond repair by now.  Please get the baby to a good rabbit vet for treatment immediately:

Please also read:

before you continue breeding bunnies who most likely will end up as snake food.

Good luck,

Dana
