Question
I have a dwarf Netherland bunny.  Recently we had a scare because she wasn't producing the amount of pellets or urine that she usually did.  Fortunately, we caught it right away and she was fine in a few days.  My concern is whether part of her problem is due to her chewing on her rabbit bed.  It's one of the CuddlE cups with the fleece lining.  She's completely chewed out one corner.  I've tried small towels, but she either chews them or tosses them around.  She gets a good, varied diet, is litter trained and gets exercize.  The vet says she is in perfect health, but I want to make sure there is nothing in her cage that could cause her problems.  Is there any harm with her chewing on the bed and ingesting fibers?

Answer
Some rabbits just like the chew on towels (I have enough holey towels to attest to this).

When I catch them doing it, or notice there are holes, I take them away because if they eat enough it could cause an intestinal blockage.

You might try giving her cardboard for her bed instead of towels and see if that helps.  As long as she only shreds .
the cardboard and doesn't eat it.
